These output shaft and sleeve combos are a perfect addition to your transmission rebuild or general car service on your 3000GT VR4 or Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo. These items can wear out and leave you stranded. The splines are notorious for degrading to the point of stripping. When this happens, it will leave you stranded and possibly burn out your VCU in your center differential.
Made from 8620 steel that is heat treated and hardened.
Available are both 18 and 25 spline shafts and sleeves. The 18 spline sleeve is for transfer cases known as “small bearing” cases. You will know if you have a small bearing transfer case by looking at the cover on the case itself where it says “Getrag”. That that logo will be a bolt. If it is not there, then you have a small bearing case. If you have a big bearing case and you need to install a new spool, you will need an adapter. We apologize, but at this time we do not carry this adapter. 25 spline sleeve is for 5 speed transfer case only. We do have upgraded 6 speed sleeves available.
The transfer case sleeve needs to have the gear from the original sleeve pressed onto it, as well as the bearings. This requires a minimum of a 20 ton shop press and should be done by a professional. The output shaft can be swapped with the transmission still in the car. But, it is best to do it with the transmission out so you can be sure the transmission casing has a good seal when reinstalling everything.
