Synchronizer talk! How to easily identify a worn o Synchronizer talk! How to easily identify a worn out synchronizer while your transmission is out. The first picture shows an original synchronizer that has seen its last day. You can see the ring is laying flat against the small (dog) teeth on the gear. The second picture shows a new synchronizer and how far it sits away from the dog teeth on the gear. The third and fourth pictures show the inner liner of the synchronizer that wears out. The new synchronizer being used is a carbon fiber lined version. But we couldn't help ourselves to see what this would lay down at wastegate pressure (10 psi).
